GARBAGE RUN SEPTEMBER 2017
After the success of the first one, when 27 riders made it from the bottom of the UK all the way to the top, I've decided to run it again.
As before it'll be a week long trip, leaving Land's End on the 9th September, with the plan to reach John o'Groats the following Saturday; the 16th.
The route will once again be mainly rural and scenic roads. There will be no motorways so L plate riders welcome. Bikes of all cc are fine to attend, though if you can come on something smaller then I would advise it.
It's not a guided tour; people can ride whichever route they like, and at their own pace. On the first Garbage Run half of the riders formed one group, whilst others went off in smaller groups or sometimes solo.
A nightly rest stop is provided, as well as lunch time meeting points. If you want to ride with the main group you can. If you want to splinter off and meet up at the end of the day or at lunch time that's cool as well. Ultimately it's your adventure and there is no right way or wrong way of doing it.
This is an unsupported run so people need to be self sufficient where possible. Basic tools would be handy to bring. Accommodation will be a mixture of camp sites and the odd bunkhouse. The price includes a minimum of 5 nights camping.
Due to the volume of interest, and because for some people it might work out better, I'll run a second trip down from John o'Groats to Land's End, commencing on Sunday 17th September and arriving in Land's End on the 24th. A different route will be taken on the way down as it was on the way back up.

The flexibility of choosing between solo riding or group travel makes this trip feel much more like a genuine adventure than a standard tour. Since you mentioned the route is still being finalized, do you plan to prioritize keeping the scenic roads away from busier tourist spots to maintain that rural feel?

The Garbage Run is a really interesting idea because it shows how adventure events can bring people together in a simple and fun way. I remember reading about similar outdoor challenges during a busy semester and thinking I needed assignment help because I was struggling to keep up with deadlines while also planning activities with friends. That experience taught me how quickly time can fill up when you are involved in different things. It also showed me that balance and preparation are key to handling both studies and personal interests.
This sounds like an incredible adventure! I remember seeing posts about the first one and being so impressed. A week-long trip from Land's End to John o'Groats on rural roads is definitely my kind of challenge. It's awesome that L-plate riders are welcome too, makes it more accessible. I'm already picturing some of the amazing scenery you'll pass through; I bet the photos from this year will be just as stunning as the last, maybe even AI-enhanced with something like Qwen-Image for some truly unique shots. This sounds like an amazing trip! I'm particularly interested in the "no motorways" aspect – that really opens it up to a wider range of riders and makes it feel more like a true adventure through the landscape. This sounds like an absolutely epic adventure! I remember hearing about the first one and thinking how cool it was, but 27 riders is even more impressive. I love that you're keeping it to rural, scenic roads and avoiding motorways; that's definitely the best way to experience the journey. It's a shame I can't make it this year, but maybe I can at least digitally follow along with some of the photos, perhaps even sprucing them up a bit with an AI Image Editor if anyone shares them online!
